A Single Mother’s Cry

Day 6

in a white porcelain tub

Rain falls on my brown skin

Misting my thoughts

The wetness, my tears

I cry

A single mothers cry

For the weight I carry on my shoulders

For the shame of feeling weak

For the pain he bares within

For my children.

Oceans forming around

My brown body becoming land

Plundered

For Everything. That. I. Have.

I cry

A single mothers cry

For my son

Thunder

For my daughter

Lighting

For Me

A storm

In uncharted waters

Winds blowing hard

Sails ripping apart

Stay calm

Try to walk on this water

Try to speak over this storm

In a white porcelain tub

Rain falls on my brown skin

Misting my thoughts

The wetness, my tears

I cry

A single mothers cry

Out to God.
